Our journey began in 1985 when Ian Trainor laid the foundation of what would become a beacon of excellence in the building industry. In keeping with the family tradition and preserving the rich legacy, step-son Andrew Oughton and his wife Amy Oughton embraced the helm, rebranding as IT Building in 2021. This transition marked a new chapter, carrying forward Ian’s dedication and family spirit at the core of our operations.

We pride ourselves on our robust history and unwavering reputation for delivering high-quality craftsmanship across the Canterbury region. Under Andrew's stewardship, this boutique company has blossomed into a haven of expertise, ushering in a new era of exceptional builds. His experience, begun in Christchurch overseeing intricate architectural projects, including those demanding robust engineering solutions on hillsides, has been instrumental in elevating the standards of the building industry. He then mastered his craft with bespoke architectural builds in the Mackenzie Country before the family moved back to Christchurch at the end of 2023.

With a rich background in diverse building techniques like SIPS Panel Construction, kitsets, and post-earthquake rebuilds and renovations, Andrew has cultivated a reservoir of skills and knowledge. Today, he stands as a beacon of innovation and expertise, fostering the next generation of builders and instilling in them a passion for excellence and innovation.
